Gunfire and explosions erupted in the city of Maiduguri on Tuesday as soldiers moved into an area where members of Islamist group Boko Haram were believed to be hiding, residents said.
“There have been at least eight explosions in these neighbourhoods and soldiers have moved in with tanks and have taken over the whole area,” one resident said.

MAULAG(Formerly UNILAG) Students

Some students of former Unilag(now MAULAG-Moshood Abiola Unversity) have decided to take laws into their hands by sueing the President to Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.
The students argued that the power to change the name of their institution from UNILAG to MAULAG belongs to the National Legisture as provided under the University of Lagos Act 1967(as amended).

The students also asked the court to declare that the change of name as mentined by the President on May 29,is unconstitutional, ultra vires, null and void and of no effect whatsoever.

Gun men

Some armed gunmen came to Nsukka town a kidnapped a medical doctor. The doctor was identified as one Dr. M.A Sadiq, a staff of the University of Nigeria, UNN, Medical Centre. He was kidnapped in front of his private hospital, Mount Arafat Hospital, 59 Aku Road Nsukka on Saturday. The doctor was given the beaten of his life.
The security man to the doctor, Mr Sani , was also beaten black and blue while trying to save his master.

NNPC had lost some of its staff during Sunday's Lagos Plane Crash. The entire NNPC were still in shock and sad. Among its lost staffs is late Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Dr. Levi Ajuonuma.

In China (Berlin) a man was arrested for killing his wife and then cutting her body to pieces in his apartment. Police raided his apartment and also found 6 children.

It was the Neighbours who alerted the police when they heard a loud noise coming from the man’s apartment.

MURDER: A 60-year Old Woman Killed in Her House

One Mrs. Mary Agada ( 60-year-old widow), Umuezeala, Nzerem community in Ehime Mbano local government area of Imo State, was brutally murdered in her house.

But it took the community 2 days to discover that the woman was dead. Many are pointing accusing fingers at the Late Widow's 35-year old son.

BREAKING NEWS: Police fire Tear Gas at Emerging Crowd at Lagos Plane Crash Site

A crowd of about 2,000 people were forcing their way to the crash site despite police blockage. This has made the police to start throwing rear gas at the crow.

The crowd then retreated but later returned, looking on from rooftops and other areas.
Rescue workers have so far pulled at least 62 bodies from the wreckage, an official said as searches pressed on at the site of the devastation.

One witness said: "We were lucky. We just finished our church service when this thing happened.”

President Declared A 3-Day National Mourning To Honour Victims of Plane Crash

President Jonathan has ordered a 3-day mourning be observed in honour of the souls of the deceased who died in Todays lagos bomb blast.

President Jonathan, who cancelled all his public engagements scheduled for tomorrow, also directed that the Nigerian flag be flown at half-mast for the three days of national mourning.

A McDonnell Douglas (MD-83) aircraft , coming from Abuja and heading to Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos , carrying about 150 passengers had crashed directly into a two-story building in Lagos just 4 minutes to landing.

My Main Sources said the crash killed all the passengers on board(about 153 people).

But some other sources said the number of people killed is still unknown.
Oh my God! What a disaster. Pray for the families of the deceased.

Bomb Blast

A bomb blast just occurred at the Living Faith Church around Yelwa area , Bauchi state, this morning , killing at least 12 people.

The blast was a suicide bomber attack as confirmed by Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ladan.

But other sources said the suicide bomber drove a Honda car into a church, Harvest Church sandwiched between Living Faith church and Deeper Life Church in Yelwan Tudu, Bauchi.

The blast had killed both the suicide bomber, the church guards and other people.

BEAKING: Collapsed Building in Ibadan Claimed Some Lives

About 13 workers went to the construction site of the New Covenant Church, Sagbe, Ojoo, Ibadan, non wednesday morning but they did not know they will meet their death.

After the days work and as they wait to collect their wages, a downpour of rainfall began. As such, they took shelter under the building under construction. But suddenly the building collapsed on them and killed most of them.

In Assakyo, headquarters of Lafia East Development Area of Nasarawa State, the violence between Alago and Berom communities has left atleast 30 people feared dead.
Sources said the crises was because of disagreement over some payment made to the traditional head in the LG area.

Eggon people objected to the payment to the Alago traditional head, alleging that the other community was taking undue advantage of them.

The FG has decided to employ 1,305 part time teachers teaching in more than 40 Federal Unity Colleges nationwide. This was confirmed by the Minister of State for Education, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike.

This move, according to the minister, is to enhance the academic strength in these colleges and address the challenges in the education sector. The minister also stated the selection will be purely on merit.

Late Oba Oladele Olashore

Oba Oladele Olashore, a former MD of First Bank Nigeria and the paramount ruler of Iloko Ijesha, is dead. He was 77 years old.
Osun state governor, Aregbesola, describe the loss as a colossal loss and a lost of a dedicated professional. Aregbesola also recalled Oba Oladele's brilliant performance as MD of First Bank of Nigeria Plc.

Crashed Nigerian Plane

Just about 30 minutes ago, a Nigerian plane has crashed near the El-Wak sports stadium in Accra.
Sources said that the plane belongs to Allied Cargo and it was a cargo plane.

The plane crashed into the Hajj Village near the military stadium.
Fire service, police and other security and safety personnels are already on ground to put the situation under control and secure the plane before it explodes.

Hosni Mubarak

The Former Egyptian president, Hosni Mubarak, has been sentenced to life in prison after the court had foun him guilty of killing protesters during Egyptian uprising.
This judgement was given this Saturday. There was tight security. About 5,000 policemen and 2,000 soldiers were deployed to secure the court.

Also, his former interior minister, Habib al-Adly(84 years old) was also given same life sentence.
However, charges against 2 sons of Hosni Mubarak; Alaa and Gamal, were dropped due to the expiry of a statute of limitations, as the former president was acquitted in one of the graft cases.

Delta State Gov't Gives Out N269 Million Scholarship to its 47 First Class Graduates

47 First Class Graduates

Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan , has approve the disbursement of the sum of N269 Million to 47 First Class Graduates from Delta State.

This new first call graduates will join the already existing 5 in the scholarship scheme.

The state’s Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Hope Eghagha, noted that the scholarship scheme was given out on merit just as he explained that nobody lobbied for it.
