Fed. Gov't To Provide 370,000 Jobs Nationwide

In an effort to address the high unemployment problem, especially among youths, the Federal Government has begun the provision of about 370,000 jobs across the country.
The Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, made the announcement at the flag-off of the Federal Government Community Service Scheme, held in Yola on Monday.

SEC Boss, Arunma Oteh, Sent on Compulsory Leave

The Board of the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, has directed the Director-General of the Commission, Ms Arunma Oteh to proceed on compulsory leave, to enable them probe allegations of financial misappropriation and disharmony in the apex capital market regulator.

The Board has also named Ms Daisy Ekineh, an Executive Commissioner of SEC, to act as Director-General.

Contrary to his frantic denial of involvement in the ongoing scandal over a $3m bribery allegation, the chairman of the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee on the fuel subsidy probe, Hon. Farouk Lawan, collected money to alter the outcome of the probe, LEADERSHIP findings have revealed.

A top state security official who spoke to LEADERSHIP on the condition of anonymity yesterday said Lawan was taped in a sting while he was collecting the money.

Shellie Zimmerman, wife of George Zimmerman has been arrested on perjury charges. Sheila was arrested today for testifying untruthfully at her husband's bond hearing. Her bond has been set at $1,000

A Judge in Florida revoked George Zimmerman's bond on June 1st after he and his wife lied about how much donation money was collected from his website.

Free Legal Services To Families of Dana Air Crash Victims- Lagos State Gov't

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), has offered free legal services to families of victims of the Dana Air crash, that need to use legal process in pursuit of their rights and settling their compensation.

The governor revealed this when he met with families and members of the diplomatic community whose members and nationals died in the Dana Air crash.

The meeting which was held behind closed doors took far-reaching decisions on the way forward concerning the identification and release of bodies as well as sharing of detailed information with the families.

PHOTOS: Pensioners Protest in Abuja

This morning retired workers protested over unpaid monthly pensions in Abuja. The pensioners gathered at the office of head of the Civil Service of the federation at the Federal Secretariat demanding for payment of their monthly stipends.
Nigerian official anti-corruption agency EFCC recently arrested top who stole and shared billions of naira from pension funds.

Today (June 12) is the birthday of popular Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar. She is from Kogi State (Nigeria). She attended Bayero University, Kano, where she studied Sociology. She got her first role in a Nollywood movie in 2001. In 2011, she won the award for Best Actress, at the Afro Hollywood Awards. Some of the movies, which she has to her credit are Slip of Fate, Tears of a Child, Secret Shadows, Gangster Paradise, and Area Mama.

LASU Graduates 27,087 Graduates Tomorrow

THE Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. John Oladapo Obafunwa, has said 27,087 graduands would be awarded certificates tomorrow and on Thursday at its 17th convocation.
Forty-one of the 27,087 graduands have first class honours, 2,832 made second class upper division, 14,922 had second class lower division, 4100 have third class honours while 140 made pass grade.
