Bodija Market: Communal Clash Killed One Person

Vibrant Bodija Market in Ibadan

One person was shot dead while an Inspector with the Nigerian Police Force was reportedly stabbed, severally on the head in a clash at the famous Bodija market in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

The clash which has left the market deserted, had the market police station, a number of stores and at least 10 cars destroyed set ablaze.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo state police, Mr Tambari Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, said five people including the man who led the arson have been arrested.

Chris Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, is reported to have given physical evidence that Drake was involved in the fight at the New York night club, Hollie C to detectives.

An alleged brawl between the two artists and their friends in the New York club, left the RnB artist with a bruised chin, which he posted the picture on Twitter.

Drake, has however stated that he is not responsible for the cut on Brown’s chin, saying he was simply leaving the club when the fight broke out.

The Sun newspaper reports (UK) reports that Stacey Comerford suffers from a rare neurological disorder called Kleine-Levin Syndrome, also known as Sleeping Beauty Syndrome.

EFCC Arrest Undergraduate Over N5M Scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned an undergraduate of the Federal University of Technology, Yola, before an FCT High Court sitting in Abuja over a N5million scam. The suspect, Samuel Khanisary was docked before Justice Mudasiru Oniyangi on a three count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery and obtaining property under false pretence.

ERC Condemns The Closure Of FUTA And Suspension Of Leaders Of NASU And SSANU

On Tuesday 12 June 2012, the Senate of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) shut down the university and suspended indefinitely leaders of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) Messers Ben Chukwuma and

Makinde Faola citing “unwholesome activities” of the two unions. Six other union leaders were also put on indefinite suspension.
This is the second time in three months that the authorities of FUTA have closed the campus, and it is as a result of the crisis caused by management’s refusal to pay members of staff their legitimate hazard allowance.

BREAKING: Sporadic Gunshots, Artillery Fire in Kano

Heavy artillery fire and sporadic gunshots around Naibawa and Darmunawa areas of Kano over the last couple of hours have forced residents to remain indoors.

The House of Representatives this morning called on the Federal Government to march words with actions by implementing the report of its adhoc committee on Subsidy Management.
