Woman Inserts 66 Wrapps of Narcotic Into Her Private Part, Arrested By NDLEA

Law enforcement agents and travellers were last week astonished when 66 wraps of narcotics, which tested positive to methamphetamine, were discovered in the private part of Mande Bala, 48, at the screening section of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on June 15, 2012.

The lady was promptly arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency shortly before she was due to board a Kenyan Airways flight to Nairobi.

A group of professionals in the Ondo State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria on Friday rejected the choice of Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as the party’s candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

The group, known as the Sunshine Liberation Front, condemned the process that produced Akeredolu as the candidate of the ACN in Ondo, adding that he was imposed on the party from Lagos State.

Late Habib Bama

Habibu Bama, a cell leader for Boko Haram and the suspected mastermind of the Christmas Day bloody attack on Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Madalla, Niger State is dead.

Mr. Bama, who was arrested Thursday in Damaturu, Yobe State as he attempted to grab a gun from a soldier, died early this morning from gunshot wounds he received from agents of the Joint Task Force battling the extremist Islamist sect.

More than 42 worshipers and bystanders died in the Christmas Day attack, one of the most vicious launched by Boko Haram.

Offices have been evacuated over fears that a deadly explosive had been planted in a location in the city centre

The Wuse Zone 5 area of Abuja is in chaos, as organizations scramble to evacuate staff, after information spread of a perceived bomb in the area.

The explosive device is believed to be planted between Top View Hotel and the headquarters of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps office in the area.

The area also has the headquarters of the People’s Democratic Party, banks, and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

A witness, who works with FIRS told a reliable source that the entire area has been evacuated and the police anti-bomb squad alerted. He said heavy traffic has built up in the area, movement restricted to one lane.

“We are waiting for the anti bomb squad to either detonate it or declare the area safe,” the witness said.

The Senate yesterday indicated its intention to support the request for the creation of Edu State in the forthcoming constitution review exercise.

Edu is required by various groups from the present Niger, Kogi and Kwara states.

A 27-year-old jealous housewife, Nike Fasoyinu, has been arraigned before an Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, for allegedly pouring hot water on the manhood of her husband, Amos, after suspecting that he was sleeping with other women.

Nike, a mother of two, was arrested after the incident at their residence, 34, Olaolu Omotoso Street, Egan, Lagos State, and charged to court.

She claimed that her husband was always looking outside for sexual satisfaction; so to stop his philandering she decided to pour hot water on his manhood, which left him seriously injured.

The singer will replace former Destiny’s child singer Kelly Rowland, who was a judge last season. Kelly bowed of the X-Factor gig in April, citing scheduling conflicts, and has since been on the move, receiving numerous awards for her role on the show, covering the latest issue of Ebony Magazine, and landing a cameo role in Steve Harvey’s “Think Like A Man” Film.

A Jos High Court,yesterday, sentenced a 26-year-old man, Obinna John, to death by hanging for robbing a woman of N1,705.

The prosecution counsel, Mr. G. D. Fwonyon, Plateau State Deputy Director of Public Prosecution, had told the court that John, in company of an accomplice, also named John, now at large, on
November 18, 2005, robbed the woman, a resident of Gada Biu, in Jos, in her shop, at gunpoint.

The creator of popular television drama series, Village Headmaster, Ambassador Segun Olusola is dead. Aged 77, he died Thursday after a brief illness. His death is a big blow to the broadcast company. He lives a quite, non-controversial life.

Late Ambassador Olusola was former Nigeria Ambassador to Ethiopia, a native of Iperu Remo,Ogun State, he was the Founder/chairman of African Refugee Foundation, AREF.

A veteran Broadcaster, Diplomat and ace Television Producer, late Olusola was born at Iperu-Remo on March 18, 1935.

Habib Bama

Habib Bama, a suspected Islamist sect terrorist, who was declared wanted by the State Security Service (SSS) on Feb. 15 for allegedly masterminding the bombing of some public institutions, has been arrested.

A competent source in the SSS said that Bama, an ex-soldier, was arrested on Thursday during a shoot out with the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe.

Bama is alleged to have masterminded the bombing of the Mogadishu Barracks Mammy market, Police Force Headquarters and UN building, all in Abuja, and some churches in Madalla in Niger.

3rd Mainland Bridge To Shut Down From July 1st

THE third mainland bridge in Lagos will be closed to traffic for repairs in four months starting from July 1, 2012. The first signals for the proposed closure came through several banners hung in strategic places that show that maintenance works would be carried out on the all-important bridge from July 1 to Nov 6, 2012.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended flight operations of Air Nigeria, the troubled airline owned by Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim with immediate effect.

The suspension arose from allegations, first revealed by Saharareporters, that the airline was in dire financial distress unable to fulfill its obligations to employees, lessors and airline ground services in different countries around West Africa, Middle East and Europe.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has threatened to strike out the charges filed against nine suspected members of the fundamentalist sect, Boko Haram, by the police.

The presiding judge, Justice Abdul Kafarati frowned at the in-ability of the prosecution to bring their witnesses to give evidence in the case against the suspects.

At the resumed hearing of the suit on Thursday, the prosecution counsel, Bernard Nnamdi applied for an adjournment on account of their in-ability to produce the witnesses in court.

It’s a feat most able-bodied people would struggle to achieve – scaling one of the highest peaks on earth but Spencer West managed it using just his hands.

The 31-year-old, from Toronto, Canada – who lost his legs when he was just five years old – reached the summit of the 19,341ft high Mt. Kilimanjaro on Tuesday after a slow, gruelling and awe-inspiring trek.

Mr West was born with sacral agenesis, a genetic disorder that left his lower spine poorly developed and his legs permanently crossed.
He had his legs removed below the knees at the age of three and, two-years-later, had them amputated to below his pelvis.

Gun shots and blast were reported in parts of Na’ibawa, Sheka, Karkasara and Shagari Quarters of Kano metropolis last night.
Though details of the violence were sketchy at press time, LEADERSHIP gathered that the gun shots and blast which occurred at about 11pm, lasted for almost an hour.

It was further gathered that some gunmen in Volkswagen Golf car attacked a police checkpoint and threw an explosive at the officers.
The gunmen were said to have fled the area and left the car with three explosives which were later detonated by the anti-bomb squad of the state command.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has filed charges of evading five years tax payment of N4.86 billion naira and forgery of Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) against Air Nigeria.

A copy of the charge filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja was exclusively obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday.

Mr Jimoh Ibrahim, the company’s Chairman, Mr Kinfe Kahssaye, Managing Director and Air Nigeria Development Company Limited (formerly Virgin Nigeria Airways Ltd), were joined in the 10-count charge.

Protesting students of the University of Lagos over the re-naming of the institution to Moshood Abiola University recently.

The calm that pervades the main campus of the University of Lagos after resumption of academic activities last Monday after a three-week suspension may be shattered as students vowed to resume protests if the bill presented to the Senate by President Goodluck Jonathan is passed into law.

Students who on Monday resumed lectures after suspension of academic activities by the University Senate vowed to continue the protest until the name, UNILAG is restored. Nevertheless, classes were opened for lectures and hostels for returning students.

However, the hitherto busy campus in Akoka was relatively sparsely populated as most students on campus were predominantly freshmen completing admission formalities, and final year students.

The U.S. government is expected to formally apply a "foreign terrorist" label on Thursday to three alleged leading figures of the violent Nigerian militant group Boko Haram, officials said.
