Residents of Maitama District in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital city, were thrown into panic today when a truck delivering diesel at the MTN premises caught fire and exploded in the high brow neighborhood.

The area was condoned off by security agents, but police spokesman Frank Mba told GistNaija.com  that there were no fatalities or injuries in the incident.

A man who is a beneficiary of President Jacob Zuma's special remissions programme allegedly raped a 94-year-old woman in front of her great-grandchildren.

Spokesman of South African Police Service (SAPS), Col. Vincent Mdunge, told newsmen in Johannesburg that the suspect is “a habitual criminal’’.

He said that the suspect appeared at the New Hanover Magistrate Court on Thursday.

“The woman was raped in her KwaSwayimane home in Emabheleni Ward, at 1.00 a.m. on Saturday.

“Police have been looking for him for another case,” Mdunge said.

2 Men Arrested With Skull of A 7-Year Old Boy

                           

Officials of the State Security Services (SSS), on Wednesday, paraded two men who allegedly beheaded a 7-year-old boy and attempted to sell the head.

John Yakubu, 25, and Ishaya Dakulung, 30, were arrested along A.Y.A Junction of Asokoro District, Abuja, following a tip off. Both men confessed to the crime

Dakulung told journalists that he contacted Yakubu and offered him N250, 000 to get a fresh human head after he was approached by an unnamed person who was wanted it for ritual purposes.

Two Men in Court for Stabbing Another Over Girlfriend

                             

The police in Lagos on Thursday arraigned two businessmen who allegedly stabbed a man all over his body because of a girlfriend.

Chukwuebuka Ejiofor (28) and Ekene Kanu (30) appeared before a Surulere Magistrates’ Court on a two-count charge of conspiracy and assault.

Ejiofor and Kanu, who reside at 8, Amusa St., Bale, Orile-Iganmu, and 6, Agbonyin Ave., Surulere, respectively, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Gabriel Ekundayo, said that the duo conspired and stabbed one John Paul on July 22 at a hotel at  Coker, Orile-Iganmu, in a dispute over Paul’s girlfriend.

Armed Gunmen Kill 3 People in Maiduguri

                        

Some suspected attacked Gubio, the headquarters of Gubio Local Government Area of Borno, and killed two policemen and a civilian.
Alhaji Bala Hassan, the state Commissioner of Police, confirmed this incident to newsmen in Maiduguri.
“We have not made any arrest yet but we have spread our dragnet for them. We are combing the entire area in search of them. We will get them sooner or later,’’ he said.


When will peace return to the once Maiduguri, whose motto is ,"The Land of Peace".

A competent source close The Sun  disclosed that Mr. Nwosu was shot at Mazamaza as he made his way to The Sun’s Corporate Headquarters at Coscharis Street, Apapa. The scene described by the source is not too far away from the Sun office. 

“He had gone to the bank with his driver to withdraw some money,” said the source. He was shot on the head, and quickly rushed to the hospital where he is being treated.”

But before her burial, there willbe lying-in-state at her Umunachi, Umudioka Village, Anambra State and a church service at St. Gabriel Catholic Church.

The Family has officially disclosed that she died of Diabetes. So people should stop spreading false information about her illness.

Terrorists attacked the Gum Arabic Factory in Maiduguri, killed 2 Indians,  injured 1 Indian and made away with N90,000 at about 10 a.m. this morning.

The injured Indian who escaped is currently receiving treatment at the State Specialist Hospital. Tis incidence is still  under investigation.

Well yesterday, The Nigerian Army Has fined both Military men with the sum of N25,000 claiming that no one is above the law.

Good judgement, yes no one is above the law. But if I were Fashola, I would have forgiven the men since they have shown true repentance and even saluted him in the public.

What Da Hell: Unity Bank Retires 500 Workers

                                   

Unity Bank Plc Monday  said about 500 members of its staff will proceed on retirement, in line with a programme aimed at reinvigorating its workforce.

The bank also said that about 389 members of staff in various departments were promoted while salary increments by way of notches were also given to another 1,855.

A statement from the bank explained that the move was aimed at raising productivity and competitive position in the industry. “With the implementation of the programme, the bank has announced staff promotions, retirements and will embark on new recruitments to fill vacancies,” it said.

Abuja Demolition: Residents of New Kuchigoro Protests

                      

Residents of New Kuchigoro, a small resident in Abuja, were unhappy and protested against the demolition of their houses by the Abuja Development Control Department.

The Protesting residents gave many reasons why they are protesting.

Firstly, They were only given 1 week quit notice which is too small to give them enough time to relocate.

Secondly, most of the residents had gone to their offices before the demolition team came.

Thirdly, Some of the residents died during the demolition.

Also, most of the residents are non-indigenes.

But Mrs Josie Mudashiru, Head of Public Relations Unit, Department of Development Control, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, told NAN that the people were given sufficient notice.

Mainstreet Bank: Sacked Bank Workers Protest Over Nonpayment Of Entitlements

Sacked workers of Mainstreet Bank Plc in Lagos on Tuesday protested the nonpayment of their entitlements by the bank and accused  their union leaders of complicity in the matter.

The workers, who were sacked on June 22, blocked the gates of the Association of Senior Staff of Banks and Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI) and  accused their leaders of being insensitive to their plight.

The spokesperson of the protesting workers, Mr Eyo Usanga, who addressed the protesters at the entrance of union’s office in Alausa, said more than 800 workers were sacked without benefits.

"Some people had worked for about 30 years and the bank terminated their job without any reason.

"The management of the bank said they will pay only N30, 000 as benefit which is not acceptable, " he said.

Dead Channels TV Reporter Wins CNN Posthumous Award

The Cable News Network (CNN) on Sunday recognized the contributions of murdered Channels Television’s reporter, Enenche Akogwu and Zakariya Isa of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) to journalism in Africa.

Both journalists died while covering the violence in Northern Nigeria and were both this year’s recipients of the Free Press Africa Award, for their work in Nigeria.

Zakariya, a cameraman for the NTA, was killed in October 2011, and Enenche, a news reporter with Channels Television, was shot and killed, having covered the Kano bomb blast in January this year.

May their souls rest in peace. They paid the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

No Going Back On Plot To Impeach Jonathan, Says Reps

                              

There was mixed reactions when the Reps threatens to impeach President Jonathan if Budget is not implemented properly. Some people condemned the Reps while others support it.

But despite these mixed reactions, the House of Reps, said in a statement that the move, which it has now confirmed to be its official resolution, was “noble, bold and patriotic” and would not be forced down by “intimidation and blackmail”.

Personally, the House of Reps is taking a wrong step. They make statements that put chaos and confusion within Nigeria.

Resident of Makoko Area in Lagos have staged a mass protest to Gov. Fashola Office Over the  displacement and demolition of their houses. 

My sources confirmed that the residents were not happy when they saw the demolition was made past the marked areas. Also, the manner of the demolition, like using fire to burn down their houses,  angered the displaced residents.

Tunde has always been criticizing the present government. In his sermon, Pastor Tunde insisted that President Goodluck should resign.

Remember, he was the running mate of Muhammadu Buhari under CPC party which lost to PDP.

Personally, Pastor Tunde Bakare needs to know his true calling. God cannot call one to be a Pastor and a Politician at the same time. This same applies to Pastor Chris Okotie. The house of God can not be turn into a place for discussing politics but preaching the gospel.

A bomb blast has just occurred in Bauchi State at Bayan Gari Killing a small boy and injuring about 10 people this evening.


This was confirmed by the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ladan.


Witnesses say the explosion occurred at about 6.40 p.m. when Muslims were about to break their Ramadan fast and that the incident caused tension and panic in the area.
Boko Haram Sect are suspected to be behind the attack.

Remember the early story I reported today about a cop/police man who killed an innocent man at Makoko waterfront  area of Lagos? Well the good news is that same police who killed this innocent man is now arrested by The Lagos State Police Command.



The spokesperson for the command, Ms Ngozi Braide said the corporal, attached to the Marine Police, Oworonsoki Division in Lagos, was being detained at the state Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba.

Gbenga Okunowo, a former super Eagles Defender, has just lost everything he has as a dangerous outbreak engulfs his house in Ibadan on Sunday morning.

Gbenga had played also for Barcelona FC( 1998-2001) and Benfica. The 33-year-old returned to the Nigeria Premier League when he joined Sunshine Stars earlier this season.

He was very devastated and laments. 

He said: "I was sleeping at around 02:00 Sunday morning when I heard some noise in the house beside mine," he said. "The fire started in that house and I jumped down from the bed to help my neighbours.
