A Nigerian student is languishing in Ukrainian jail for allegedly defending himself against six teenagers who attacked him in an entrance to his apartment block on November, 5 last year in Luhanski, Ukraine.
African Outlook gathered that the Nigerian identified as Olaolu Sunkanmi Femi and one of his friends were physically attacked in front of his apartment by four Ukrainian young men and two women who pulled them to the ground while hurling racist slurs on them.
According to eye witness account, Olaolu Sunkanmi Femi was said to have managed to get up and defended himself against the assailants with a glass from a broken bottle.

The police in Yobe on Monday said that a section of Damagum Primary School in Damagum Local Government Area was gutted by fire from suspected explosions in the area.
Mr. Toyin Gbadegeshin, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, made the disclosure in an interview in Damagum.
He also said policemen on Monday repelled an attempted attack on Damagum Police Station by unknown persons.
Gbadegeshin said “at about 1:05a.m., attacks launched on Damagum Police station and a worship centre were successfully repelled by the police but no casualty was recorded while the gunmen fled into the bush.’’
He said the explosion occurred few hours before the attack on the station but nobody claimed responsibility.
The officer said no casualty was recorded in both incidents.
The protesters, made up of fishermen, youths and other groups affected by the spill, carried placards, singing solidarity songs at the council’s secretariat, Uquo.
The protesters were prevented from seeing the LGA Chairman as security personnel locked up the gates. However, the council’s Vice Chairman, Mr. Enobong Asubob, later addressed them.
Policemen attached to Bode Thomas Division, Lagos State, on Sunday foiled two robbery incidents in Surulere and arrested three suspects in the process.
