Togo: Women Plan On Sex Strike Against president

                           

Women in the civil rights group "Let's Save Togo" said they will have a weeklong sex strike to demand the resignation of President Faure Gnassingbé.

The plan to withhold sex from their husbands for a week will start Monday, said Isabelle Ameganvi , leader of the group's women's wing.( I Pity the Men, hahaha ).

Ameganvi, a lawyer, told the AP that her group is following the example of Liberia's women who used a sex strike in 2003 to campaign for peace.

The women's protest is part of a campaign by a coalition against Gnassingbé. The opposition group National Alliance for Change held a peaceful demonstration against the president on Saturday. Gnassingbé has been in power since 2005, following the death of his father Gnassingbé Eyadema who ruled the West African country for 38 years.

A Man Shot His Son Dead, Mistakes Him For A Monkey

Son Mistaken For A Monkey

A man, who is a farmer, shot his 12-year-old dead on Friday , thinking it was a monkey that was trying to steal his crop. Dammnn! 

The man's name is Gupta Bahadur(55 years old) while his little son is Chitra Bahadur Pulami .  His son used to climb trees to chase away monkeys as directed by his father. Monkeys have become a serious nuisance too their farm.

But on Friday, the son was hiding in a tree at their farm to scare away the monkeys  that used to come searching for food in the maize field.  Mr Gupta spotted his son(which he mistook for a monkey) and opened fire. The son died immediately.

“I realised my mistake only when my son fell down and got stuck in one of the tree’s branches,” the farmer was quoted as telling police at the Nepal on Friday, 24th August, 2012.

Do you consider this a mere mistake? How can one mistake a human being to a monkey. Mtchewww!! Annoying!! Just wasted a little boy's life.

Venezuela Refinery Blast: Number of Deaths Rises From 27 to 39!!

                            

Yesterday I reported about the deadly refinery blast that occurred in Venezuela which killed about 27 people. But GistNaija.com just gathered that while Venezuela is still mourning their dead, the death toll rises to 39 with more than 80 people injured.

Meanwhile, Venezuelian president, President Hugo Chavez had  declared three days of national mourning yesterday, saying the tragedy affected "the great Venezuelan family, civilian and military."

Real Madrid's Nuri Sahin Set To Join Liverpool on Season-long loan

Nuri Sahin of Real Madrid is now set to join Liverpool FC after Liverpool had reached an agreement for the season-long loan  and also after Arsenal ended their interest.

The Reds offered to pay a larger proportion of the 23-year-old's £115,000 a week wages, swinging the deal in their favour.
Sahin, who has 31 caps for Turkey, will undergo a medical ahead of the match against Manchester City on Sunday.
Sahin had been expected to join Arsenal, having privately expressed a preference for the north London club. But the deal stalled when Real and Arsenal could not agree a £14m option to buy the player at the end of the loan.

JTF Releases 27 Kidnapped Oil Workers in Akwa Ibom

                             

Joint Task Force (JTF) has successfully carried out an operation that saved 27 oil workers from the kidnappers den in Bakassi local government area of Akwa Ibom State.

 The workers were kidnapped by Lactop Marine Force, a militant group operating the oil producing state.

The abducted oil workers work with Sinopec Oil servicing. Informations gathered by GistNaija.com  shows that the rescue operation was carried out by JTF in collaboration with the eastern naval command based in Calabar, Cross River State. 28 of the workers were kidnapped but one of them ran away and still missing as at the time of the report.

An alleged female child kidnapper was arrested, Friday, at Ayawanle area, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos state.

The yet to be named woman who allegedly used biscuits and sweets to lure her victims has been taken to Isheri Police Station after rescuing five of her victims.

3 Friends Found Dead In Emir Son's House

                             

Tragedy struck in the Ringim Local government Area of Jigawa on Friday when three friends were  found dead in a room. 

The dead friends were identified as Ali Tajo, Mustapha Murtala and Nasiru Shehu . 


The three lived and died in a house, belonging to one of the sons of the Emir of Ringim, Alhaji Mahmoud Sayyadi. 
Malam Magaji Tambura, a bricklayer working at the house, said that he came to the scene at about 7 am. to pick tools that he had used to work the previous day. 

Gas Explosion Kills At Least 19 People at Venezuela’s Refinery

A gas leak caused an explosion that killed at least 19 people at Venezuela’s biggest oil refinery on Saturday and wounded more than 50 in the OPEC nation’s worst industrial accident in recent memory.

It was not immediately clear how the blast would affect operations at the 645,000-barrels-per-day (bpd) Amuay facility, which makes up two-thirds of the world’s second-largest refinery complex, nor for how long output might be affected.

State TV showed footage of smoke billowing from the refinery as dawn broke, and emergency workers were on the scene.

Multiple award winning TV journalist, and one of the nation’s most talented broadcast journalists, Deji Bademosi, has resigned his appointment with Channels Television over what sources described as “irreconcilable differences” with the Chairman of the station, John Momoh.

Mr. Bademosi, who was Head of the television’s Political Desk, tweeted on Friday that he had quit his position at the station.

“My time with Channels Television has now ended. Looking to new challenges,” Mr. Bademosi, a Mass Communication graduate from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, tweeted on Friday evening.

Both Mr. Bademosi and CHANNELS are reluctant to speak on the resignation of a reporter  who won several laurels for self and station.

Neil Armstrong, First Man To Walk On The Moon, Is Dead

                                                  
Neil Armstrong, the first man to ever walk on the moon, has died, NBC News reported Saturday. He was 82 years old.

Armstrong had undergone heart surgery just a few weeks ago.

In 1969, Armstrong commanded the Apollo 11 spacecraft, the first ever to reach the moon. As he became the first person to walk on the moon, he famously said “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” and spent nearly three hours walking on the moon with Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin.

In recent years, he lived with his wife Carol in Ohio and stayed largely out of public view.

BREAKING NEWS: Isoko Development Union President Kidnapped

                              

 Isoko Development Union(IDU) President, Gregory Akpojenem, has been Kidnapped.

Mr. Akpojene was kidnapped in his home town, Otor-Igho, in Isoko North Local Government Area.

GistNaija.com learnt  that at least seven gunmen invaded the kidnap victim’s home where they nabbed him.
 Also, GistNaija.com gathered  that Mr. Akpojene, a veteran farmer, was kidnapped as he was about to enter his car. His kidnappers then took him away to an unknown destination.
The Kidnappers are yet to establish any contact with the family member.

The Delta state police are on a serious search for Mr Gregory Akpojenem.

In a statement by Asika,he said Adibua was a non executive director of the company. He was relieved of the position at a meeting of top management executives, Asika said with an appeal that 360 Storm Degrees will not engage in public discussions about it internal operations and management decisions. He did not comment on the reasons for the sack.

Nigeria forward, Victor Moses from Wigan Athletic Thursday completed his move to Chelsea FC.

The 21-year-old, who featured for the Latics against the European champions last week, agreed personal terms to complete his switch to Stamford Bridge.

ESUT Vice Chancellor Finally Freed From Kidnappers

 

The Enugu State University of Technology’s (ESUT) Vice Chancellor, Cyprian Onyeji who was kidnapped August 15th, was on Thursday night freed.

 

Reports from the ESUT campus revealed that there was a celebration galore when the news broke to the students that the Vice Chancellor had regained his freedom.

Some weeks back the students had engaged in series of prayers for the release of their VC, they were however grateful to God, saying it had brought fear and tension in the school.

According to some of the students, the social and economic activities in the institution has been put on hold since the kidnap of the Vice Chancellor.

The Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, said the vice chancellor was found in Igbariam in Anambra State.



Five Die in Accident On Nsukka-9th Mile Road

Five persons riding in a private car died at Ohodo in Igbo Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State on Thursday when their car brushed a cement truck and somersaulted.

An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity told the News Agency of Nigeria in Nsukka on Friday that the accident occurred around 9.45p.m.

The witness said the Toyota Carina car, heading toward Nsukka, was overtaking the truck when they brushed and a 14-seater bus also ran into the car before it somersaulted.
The witness said the three vehicles were heading in the same direction.

A Norwegian court has sentenced mass murderer Anders Breivik, who bombed and shot to death 77 people in 2011, to 21 years in prison after determining the killer was sane.

Mr. Breivik’s mental status at the time of the crime was critical to the court’s decision, and the killer, who admitted to the attacks, had promised not to appeal the ruling only if he was found sane.

He said before the ruling, a psychiatric care would be “worse than death.”

Student Dies After Getting Buried In A Sand Pit

                                         

A 20-year-old exchange student from Korea died after he lay down in a 6-foot-deep sandpit he and some fellow students had dug on a Southern California beach and it collapsed on him.

The Oxnard Fire Department said in a statement that students from Masters College had dug the pit while spending the day at Oxnard Beach Park on Wednesday and the man became buried after climbing into it.

Firefighters arrived and immediately began digging with tools and hands, but it took 15 minutes to free him.

CPR was performed on the man as he was taken to Ventura County Medical Center, but he was declared dead at the hospital.

The man's name and hometown have not been released because his relatives have not yet been notified of his death.

NUPENG Suspends Strike Threat

Marcus Jordan, a son of Michael Jordan, was fined $250 and court costs Thursday after pleading no contest to disturbing the peace during an argument with a woman outside a Nebraska hotel last month.

Marcus Jordan, 21, also had been charged with obstructing a police officer, but that was dropped as part of a plea agreement.

He was in Omaha for the U.S. Olympic swim trials July 1 and arrested after police responded to an early-morning call at an Embassy Suites hotel.
