Invitation: Largest Painting Exihibition In Lagos

The above painting was executed by Ecole de Dessin team. The painting measured 63.5 m (208 ft 3.99 in) x 49.3 m (161 ft 8.94 in) and was created by 350 volunteers and represents the map of Nigeria, the logo of 350.org in the middle of the map, the flag of Nigeria (green, white, green) which was painted around the map.

This painting was unveiled by the Ecole de Dessin in partnership with Lagos State Government, Nigeria, on 17 November 2010 in celebration of Guinness World Records Day 2010 and also a means to draw awareness to issue of climate change in Nigeria.

This iconic painting will be up for exhibition at the Methodist Boys High School Victoria Island Lagos from the 1st of October to the 12th of October 2012. This event is in partnership with the Lagos State
Government.

Confusing Grammar: Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon Wishes Nigeria Happy Independence

Everybody knows Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon. He is very famous for his too much confusing grammar when he speaks.

Read below what he said regarding Nigeria's 52nd independence celebration. Also, Please do not forget to have your dictionary beside you.

"As we celebrate our flag and shambolic autarky at 52, we must realize that Nigeria is still more of a geographic contrivance as has been rightly posited by Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Not with our centrifugal excrescences preponderating over our centripetal proclivities. It’s a matter for mental pabulum that we are daily drifting into our ethnic cocoons.

We still remain one country with disparate ethnic agendas and I can say it for the umpteenth time again that we must sit down in a sovereign national colloquy to discuss the basis for our nationhood. Anything short of this is just vacuous scahiamachy.”

I am already confused before I finished reading it. But I thinks he means that we need to go back to our roots and live as one nation if we want to succeed as a country.

I am a 38 year old woman and got married four years ago, I have never conceived though the problem is not me it is my HIV positive husband who cannot perform in bed.

I am HIV negative which makes it all controversial, I am a protestant and divorce is not allowed in my religion so am stuck with my husband. I have been taking In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) to help me conceive a HIV negative child.

My husband is also diabetic and due to his condition he has turned to be abusive always calling me useless and a barren woman who cannot produce anything from my womb. It hurts me a lot knowing that I have been on his side through thick and thin but he never appreciates.

At times he gets angry and slaps me even in front of people, beats me with food and mistreats me.

I think it’s my time to leave and start a new life though am not sure whether I should leave my husband alone knowing his delicate health.

Low Turnout Mars Nigeria Independence Anniversary, Jonathan Marks Nigeria At 52 Without First Lady

Unlike the Nigeria at 50 Independence celebration where the entire nation reverberated and stood still for the epoch-making ceremony, this year’s celebration looks like a typical setting of a naming ceremony.

VIDEO: Boko Haram Claims ‘Abu Qaqa’ Is Still Alive + Plans To Attack Wives Of Nigerian Officials

Leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, said in a YouTube message today that the sect’s spokesman, Abu Qaqa, is still alive.

In a short video below in Hausa language, Shekau claimed that 10 wives of Boko Haram members are currently being detained by Nigerian officials, an action he described as “demeaning,” and threatened a round of reprisals on wives of government officials.

In the above video, the Boko Haram leader also threatened violence by the group over a recent anti-Islam video which denigrates Prophet Mohammed.

Two weeks ago, Nigeria troops recently claimed they had killed some senior commanders of Boko Haram near Kano and arrested others.

Nigerian singer, Aituaje Iruobe, mostly known as WAJE which is the acronym for “Words aren’t just enough” has taken it upon herself to provide essential needs to children living in Makoko through her NGO, Safe House.

Austrian Man Locked Up Daughter In Basement For 24 years, Fathered Her 7 Children

Police had said on Sunday a 42-year-old woman told them her father, Josef Fritzl, lured her into the basement of the block where they lived in the town of Amstetten in 1984, and drugged and handcuffed her before imprisoning her.

Further police report on Monday said that her 73-year-old Austrian father has confessed to imprisoning her in a windowless cellar for 24 years and fathering her seven children.

According to Austrian broadcaster ORF, police suspected an extreme case of incest because the woman told them she has been abused by her father during her ordeal and had borne him seven children. Three of them stayed with her in the basement dungeon while one child died shortly after birth. Her father removed the corpse from the cellar and burned it, she said.

The 42-year-old woman, Elisabeth Fritzl said she had been abused by her father since she was 11.

Two Omani infants drowned in separate accidents in eastern region on Sunday, according to Royal Oman police (ROP) press release.

“A 20-month-old girl lost her balance while playing and fell in a pool of water near her house,” a spokesperson for ROP’s Public Relations Department said.

He added that the child’s family members promptly rushed her to a nearby health centre but she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso yesterday lost a rare gem as Professor R.O. Ayeni died following a brief illness at the age of 64.

Born on June 9, 1948 at Owode-Ketu, Ogun State, Prof Ayeni attended the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1973 in Mathematics, and the Cornwell University, United States for a doctoral programme.

He was the former President, Mathematical Association of Nigeria. Professor Ayeni, who was Pioneer Dean, Students Affairs LAUTECH, Chairman, Committee of Deans and Provosts, also chaired the panel set up by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) to provide curriculum on Mathematics for primary and secondary schools, which was later transformed into syllabus presently being used by both WAEC and NECO.

Students and Staff of LAUTECH has been posting messages on social media on how sorely missed the late professor would be.

Terrorism – Goodluck Jonathan to Mark Independence Within The Presidential Villa

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan will on Monday (today) mark the country’s 52nd independence anniversary within the confines of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, contrary to the previous practice of holding such events at the Eagle Square in Abuja.

The indoor independence celebration started last year when Jonathan opted for a brief ceremony within his official residence in the face of the prevalent insecurity in the country.

Like last year’s celebration, only a few accredited personalities will be allowed into the indoor venue. But the event will be transmitted live by both the Nigerian Television Authority and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria from 10am.

Chioma Ajunwa, 41, gave birth to triplets earlier this month.

Enough bundle of joy and they’re so cute. She’s a DPO in the Nigeria Police Force, a position she recently attained not too long ago.

Beloved countrymen and women, on this day, fifty-two years ago, our founding fathers brought joy and hope to the hearts of our people when they won independence for our great country.

Nigeria made a clean break with more than six decades of colonial rule, and emerged as a truly independent nation. That turning point was a new beginning for our nation.

Those who witnessed the lowering of the Union Jack and the emergence of the Green White Green flag continue to relish the memory, because that ceremony was not just about the destiny of a nation, but the future of a people.

26-Year-Old Woman Became Barren After Doctors Left Surgical Equipment In Her Stomach (PHOTO)

26-year-old Ernestina Adade Konadu has vowed to seek justice, after medical doctors at the Brong-Ahafo Regional Hospital in Sunyani, Ghana, left surgical cloth in her abdomen during a cesarean operation in October 2010.

Though the second operation to remove the surgical cloth has now rendered Ernestina barren, the Attorney General Department is reportedly threatening her to back down on the GH¢150,000 she is demanding as compensation, else they would expose her medical records.

Ernestina Adade Konadu told The Chronicle, whilst in tears, that her first attempt to have a child had ended in the current mess, but instead of sympathising with her, since she could no more bring forth and also engage in any hard work, the law office was rather threatening her.

Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Hope Eghagha, was today kidnapped in a deadly attack near Asaba, the capital of his home state.

A source learnt that the kidnappers shot and killed Mr. Eghagha’s police orderly before speeding off with the commissioner.

Rick Ross and Young Jeez need to learn from 50 Cent and Fat Joe. 50 and Fat Joe have now reconciled after they performed together on the same stage.

A fight reportedly broke out backstage at the BET Hip Hop Awards last night between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy that resulted in shots being fired .. sources at the awards tell TMZ.

According to sources, Ross and Jeezy exchanged words backstage and started pushing and shoving each other. We’re told BET security and bodyguards for each of the rappers eventually separated the two.

Heavy gun fighting raged in Zaria, Kaduna State on Sunday afternoon after an explosion occurred at a house used by Boko Haram terrorists who were planning to carry out an attack in the city today was raided.

My Husband Cheated On Me With Another Woman. Should I Cheat On Him TOO?

I discovered a few months back that my husband slept with another lady.

This was less than 2 months after our second child, and 2 months to our fourth year wedding anniversary. To say that I was deeply hurt is putting it mildly…. I wept like never before and some of my thoughts included divorce and even suicide.

When I confronted him, he opened up and told me it was just a one-night stand and apologised for his actions. I forgave him (or looking back now, so I thought), but the whole event still plays in my mind/head and I just feel a surge of hatred all over again.

Don’t make that mistake. Don’t get married without knowing your future spouse’s thoughts on these issues that can kill a marriage.

Compromise is usually not an option if the two of you disagree on these issues that can be deal breakers.

1. Do you want to have children?

It is a huge red flag in your relationship if you and your future spouse can not agree on whether to have children or not.

Thinking that you can deal with this issue later in your marriage is a mistake.

Making a decision to have a baby when one parent doesn’t want to have children is not fair to the child or to your marriage.

2. Can we talk about money?
The mechanics of how the two of you will handle your finances really isn’t the issue. Many couples in successful marriages have separate checking accounts

Interestingly, while some were busy starting new feuds, others were putting the past behind them as arch-rivals 50 cent and Fat Joe shared the stage together with Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, Q-Tip and Funkmaster Flex for a tribute to Chris Lighty who passed away last month.

Gemma McCluskie

On September 9, the head of former EastEnders actress, Gemma McCluskie was found dead in the Regent’s Canal near her home. Her 35 year old brother, Tony McCluskie has now accepted responsibility for killing her.

A judge said on Friday that Tony McCluskie will now face trial on the issue of whether her death was murder or manslaughter.

McCluskie, who lived in Peter Street, Hackney, east London, with his 29-year-old sister, was due to face trial next month, but the trial was on Friday moved to January 14 next year.

McCluskie, who appeared by videolink, was remanded in custody at The Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey).

Sir Elton John will be the first act to open the newly constructed $548m Perth Arena.

Elton’s fellow English singer, George Michael was earlier scheduled to open the venue on November 10, but he had to be replaced after he was forced to cancel the Australian leg of his Symphonica tour as he continues to recover from a near-fatal bout of pneumonia last year.

The English knight has agreed to step in for Michael by adding the official opening gig to his Australian tour, celebrating 40 years since the release of global hit Rocket Man.

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, has assured Nigerians of the readiness of the Nigeria Police to ensure a hitch-free celebration as the country marks her 52nd Independence anniversary on Monday.

Optima Media Group (OMG), the executive producers of Nigerian Idol on Wednesday September 19, at the Shaba Events Centre, Ikeja, announced the return of the 3rd season of the Nigerian Idol in what promises to be a mind blowing season.

At the launch, winner of the 1st season, Mercy along with runners-up of previous seasons, Naomi, Stephen and Joe serenaded guests present with their performances.

And in what looks like keeping to tradition as far as judges for the show is concerned, African Amercian singer, dancer and personal choreographer to Michael Jackson, Jeffery Daniels, Yinka Davies and Charly Boy were returned as Judges for season 3. While OAP, IllRhymz, was retained as host.
