Zack Orji, Majid Michel Honoured at Planet Africa Awards

Veteran actor Zack Orji and popular Ghanaian actor Majid Michel were recently honored at the 9th Annual Diversity and Planet Africa Awards.

The event was held at the Roy Thomson hall in Toronto, and was co-hosted by international recording artiste Kardinal Offishall.

Veteran actor Zack Orji received the award for the Planet African Entertainment while Majid Michel received the Rising Star Award.

Attending the events where celebrities such as Selwyn Richards, Jay Martin amongst others.

There was a tribute performance to the late Whitney Houston by Patrica Shirley, other high light of the event include: groovy showcase by Ghana high-life duo Ruff N’ Smooth and an after party hosted by Sam Sarpong.

Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Nsima Ekere

The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Nsima Ekere, has on Wednesday (today) resigned from office on personal grounds.

A statement signed by his Press Secretary, Inemesit Ita, said Ekere thanked the governor and the people of the state for the opportunity given him to serve the state in the last 17 months.

3 alleged sponsor of Boko Haram Under Watch, Investigation – IG

The Inspector General of Police, Mr Abubakar Mohammed, said on Wednesday in Abuja that the three people alleged to be sponsoring Boko Haram were under watch and investigation.

They are former Gov. Ali Modu Sheriff of Borno, Sen. Ahmed Zanna, and Sen. Ali Ndume.

Mohammed disclosed this while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after declaring open a conference of sectional police heads – zonal and state Criminal Investigative Departments (CIDs).

He pleaded with the public to cooperate with the police, saying that they should not hesitate to come forward with information that could help the police to prosecute the three men.

According to a close source Eddy Nartey who was present with the said girlfriend at the premiere of the his new movie “Testing the Waters” at Silver bird cinema on Friday October 27, 2012, had some misunderstanding with his lover during the premiere so as a result they both left the cinema to separate homes.

A 17-year-old student was formally charged Tuesday with the kidnapping, sexual assault and murder of 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway, whose body parts were found at a park in a Denver suburb earlier this month.

Austin Reed Sigg, a student at Arapahoe Community College, was also charged with attempting to kidnap, sexually assault and murder a female jogger last May.

The charges were outlined in a 17-count accusation filed by Jefferson County, Colorado, District Attorney Pam Russell Tuesday.

Men of the Delta State police command have arrested a Chief Accountant attached to the Delta State University (DELSU) Abraka and another staff of the Bursary department for allegedly defrauding the university of over N21 million, even as four fake licensing officers who specialize in issuing fake licences to unsuspecting motorists were picked up at the premises of the State Licensing office in Asaba.

The command’s spokesman, Mr. Charles Muka confirmed the two incidents saying that the chief accountant of the university and another staff of the bursary department were arrested “for defrauding DELSU of over N21 million”.

Wife of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Florence, has denied reports of her arrest by the Metropolitan Police in London.

Speaking with journalists in a telephone interview on Tuesday, the governor’s wife described the news of her arrest as the handiwork of the opposition trying to discredit the Ajimobi-led administration in the state.

Gov. Suntai Ignored Hired Pilot’s Warning —report

According to reports, the hired pilot had earlier warned the governor against flying to the airport when it was obvious that they could not meet with the visual flight mandatory for that type of aircraft which is not in the instrument flight category.

It was learnt that this advice was allegedly jettisoned by Governor Suntai who was said to have immediately taken over the cockpit and embarked on the ill-fated journey with the said pilot refusing to join the flight because of the obvious risk.

11-Year-Old Boy Loses 65% Of His Skin, Placed On Life Support After Taking Ibuprofen

An 11-year-old boy suffered 65 per cent burns to his body after suffering a horrific allergic reaction to the painkiller ibuprofen.

Calvin Lock reacted so severely to the over-the-counter medicine that he was put on a life support machine for three days and rushed to a specialist burns hospital.

The youngster, from Littleport, Cambridgeshire, is now making a good recovery after his terrifying brush with death.

Calvin’s ordeal began on September 26 when he was given the painkiller( Ibuprofen) to tackle a viral infection. The schoolboy woke up the next morning with a rash on his face and a slight swelling to his ear.

Doctors mistakenly thought he had chickenpox and gave him more antibiotics which, the following day, had caused the swelling and rashes to spread across his body.

A 26 year-old man, Nurudeen Ayegbola and Jamiu Gbenga, 29, were almost set ablaze by an angry mob yesterday for allegedly attempting to steal a motor bike at Ejigbo area of Lagos State.

The suspects allegedly cornered their victim identified as Nuniru Alabi, with a locally made gun, before the mob swooped down on them. ‘’They poured fuel on the suspects and were about to set them on fire when the police arrived the scene,’’ a witness told Daily Trust.

A woman who was dragged into an alleyway and raped after a night out was subjected to a second horrifying ordeal by another man as she lay recovering from the attack.

Mustafa Yussuf was the first to prey on the woman as she walked through Manchester city centre on New year’s Eve, marching her into Church Street car park and raping her in a nearby lane.

After the assault the then 20-year-old fled the scene, leaving the woman helpless.

It was then that, instead of assisting her, another man pounced on the woman and raped her.

The distressing details of the double rape emerged as Yussuf, now 21, from Manchester, was jailed for seven years for the attack.

He claimed to have had a consensual encounter with the woman but denied rape.

22-Year-Old House Help Found Dead In Employer’s Home Swimming Pool

The family members of one Onyeka Kingley Raphael are still engrossed in tears and anguish following his mysterious demise at his work place last Saturday.

The 22-year old student’s dead and swollen body was found in the bottom of a swimming pool at Babatunde Asimi Street, Ogudu GRA, Lagos where he worked as a domestic help.

Unable to assimilate the fictitious stories they were told surrounding the death of the young chap, his family had taken the bull by the horn by petitioning the police seeking for a thorough investigation.

According to an eye witness account, no visible injury was seen on the deceased body after his body was removed by policemen from Ogudu station, but his neck was twisted signifying that he must have been intentionally strangled to death before been dumped in the pool.

Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole yesterday warned doctors on the payroll of the state government to take their jobs seriously or be sacked.

Oshiomhole, made this known when he paid an unscheduled visit to the Central Hospital in Benin.

He complained over the attitude of some health workers, noting that some patients die because they do not receive help on time.

He said, “Our hospitals are not supposed to be death centres, but healing centres.”

“You are trained to save lives, but you preside over avoidable deaths by reason of your negligence. We will dismiss any doctor who is not ready to work.”

A total of 111 victims of Sunday’s bomb attack in Kaduna have been treated and discharged from three of the hospitals they were admitted.

Eight persons were confirmed dead when a suicide bomber rammed his bomb laden Honda CRV into the St. Rita’s Catholic Church building at Unguwan Yero, Malali area of Kaduna which left 146 injured.

The 146 victims were admitted at Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital, St. Gerard’s and 44 Military Hospitals in Kaduna. As at yesterday, only 35 of the injured victims were still receiving treatment at the three hospitals.

This figure was made available during a visit to the hospitals by officials of the state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

Church Pastor Chased, Beaten and Killed By An Electric Guiter

A church pastor was killed with an electric guitar this morning. Rev. Danny Kirk Sr., a pastor at the Greater Sweethome Missionary Baptist Church, was found beaten to death this morning.

His attacker is dead, and two other victims are hospitalized. But police still have no motive for today’s attack.

The pastor was found killed shortly after midnight this morning inside a Forest Hill church outside of Fort Worth. The suspect’s name has yet to be released to news. Kirk founded the church years earlier.

A toddler who died in April was allegedly murdered by his mother’s boyfriend, a British court heard this week.

According to the BBC, a state prosecutor told the Manchester Crown Court that almost 100 injuries had been found on 2-year-old Rio Smedley’s body the day he died.

Attorney Simon Phillips told the jury that the boy’s injuries – many of them allegedly inflicted on the last day of the child’s life – were likely caused by “heavy blows” from “punches, kicks, knees and stamping” by his mother’s 23-year-old boyfriend, Daniel Rigby.(what a wicked man!)

Rigby, however, has denied the accusations and claims that the child “fell down the stairs while in his care,” the Manchester Evening News writes.

A 46-year-old house-wife, Malama Alhaji-Ali, of Unguwar Namanda village, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, on Saturday, gave birth to a set of triplets in her 12th consecutive childbirth(WOW, her husband deserves a noble prize for child birth!!).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent who visited the area reported that the woman was delivered of the triplets at the Comprehensive Health Care Centre in Faskari.

Hajia Binta Suleiman, the Nursing Officer in charge of the health centre’s maternity ward, told NAN on Sunday that both the mother and her three baby boys were in stable condition.

Chieftain of Nigeria’s ruling party, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), has dismissed speculation that he intends to leave the party.

The former military president who spoke in Minna on Sunday after paying Sallah homage to Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu at his Tunga residence, said the party was doing its best in improving the lives of the people.

Babangida added that plans by the opposition parties to merge in 2015 was normal in democracy, advising the party to remain focused on the task ahead.

The moment you say “I love you,” it is essential to seal and affirm your statement with the most direct form of communication: the kiss.

Kissing someone provokes a series of different reactions and allows us to express many emotions. With just a simple kiss, you may discover what your partner wants to communicate with you, turning that simple act into a means of fulfilling your partner’s desires.

Kisses are subject to a wide variety of circumstances, but certain types of kisses imply different things:
1) Kiss on the cheek: transmits affection, support and complicity, regardless of physical attraction.

Man 62, Defiles 10-Year-Old Step Daughter

A 10-year old girl (name withheld) has accused her 62-year-old step father Mr. Alabi Ibrahim of habitually having carnal knowledge of her.
