Nigerian Baby, Goodluck Caubergs, Dies After Home Circumcision in the UK.

A four-week-old Nigerian baby boy, Goodluck Caubergs, bled to death after a poorly-handled home circumcision by a Nigerian nurse, a court heard On Monday.

The baby died a day after the nurse, Grace Adeleye, 66, carried out the procedure without anaesthetic and using only a pair of scissors, forceps and olive oil, the Manchester Crown Court, in the United Kingdom, heard.

The medic, a Nigerian, like the parents of the baby, was apparently introduced to the parents of the baby because of the Nigerian ties binding them, especially as Adeleye was said to have performed such operations with so much “experience and skill”, several times in the past, also among Nigerian families.
Adeleye, also a midwife, was paid £100 (about N25,400) to do the operation, as Goodluck’s parents were not aware the procedure was available at the NHS (National Health Service).

Top 5 Regrets People Say On Their Deathbed- Revealed By A Nurse.

For many years I worked in palliative care. My patients were those who had gone home to die. Some incredibly special times were shared. I was with them for the last three to twelve weeks of their lives. People grow a lot when they are faced with their own mortality.
I learnt never to underestimate someone’s capacity for growth. Some changes were phenomenal. Each experienced a variety of emotions, as expected, denial, fear, anger, remorse, more denial and eventually acceptance. Every single patient found their peace before they departed though, every one of them.
When questioned about any regrets they had or anything they would do differently, common themes surfaced again and again. Here are the most common five:
1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
This was the most common regret of all. When people realize that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.
It is very important to try and honour at least some of your dreams along the way. From the moment that you lose your health, it is too late. Health brings a freedom very few realise, until they no longer have it.
2. I wish I didn’t work so hard.
This came from every male patient that I nursed. They missed their children’s youth and their partner’s companionship. Women also spoke of this regret.

Approximately 10, 000 Ghost Workers Discovered in Kebbi State

Kebbi State Governor, Saidu Dakingari
In what might be challenging for the record of discovery of ghost workers in the country, about 9,258 “ghost workers” have been uncovered in the 21 local councils of Kebbi State by the Verification Committee on Local Government Staff.

This was made known by the state’s Chairman of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Alhaji Bello Barade. However, the figure included workers that failed to show up for clearance. The NULGE boss said the exercise, conducted two months ago, had cleared 24,126 workers “as genuine staff of the councils.
In his words: “The records of such workers were studied and they were cleared. The exercise was not aimed at witch-hunting any worker.”
Further disclosing that 12,830 of the workers verified “were beneficiaries of political patronage,” Barade pointed out that “Such categories of staff would not be considered as workers due to the nature of their recruitment on political grounds, but they would continue to enjoy their salaries and allowances.”

My Boyfriend Stopped Picking my Calls – Should I move On?

Dear GistNaija Readers,

Am 19years old in a distance relationship. We have been together for a year now. I love him and I believe he loves me too. He normally calls me all the time but suddenly that has changed. Now he might decide not to call for weeks until I call him.

When he manages to pick up my call, he either tells me that he is very busy at work or starts spitting insults at me for disturbing him. He won’t even pick my calls during the weekends.

I don’t know why the sudden change of behavior. We did not quarrel before he left for Warri. He has been working in Warri for only 6 months now. I still love him but I don’t know if he feels the same way about me any more.

Another man has been making a pass at me and he has promised to take care of me. I am a bit confused and I don’t know what to do. Please, I need a matured mind to advice me.

The letter was signed by Sheik Abu Mohammed Ibn Abdulazeez, a man known by local security sources in Maiduguri to be a sect member but considered to be a moderate.
