Mikel Obi Banned For 3 Matches And Fined £60,000 Over Chelsea-Man Utd Match Incident

Ban: John Obi Mikel (right) has been punished after he ran into Mark Clattenburg's (centre) dressing room

Chelsea's John Mikel Obi has been given a three-match ban and fined £60,000 by the Football Association for threatening referee Mark Clattenburg.

Nigerian midfielder Mikel admitted an FA charge following an incident in the match official's changing room at the end of Chelsea's game against Manchester United on 28 October.

In a personal hearing on Thursday the FA's Independent Regulatory Commission accepted that the player had genuinely believed the referee had racially abused him.

"But for that factor the suspension would have been significantly longer," the FA said in a statement.

The FA has investigated the allegation against Clattenburg and found that there was no case for him to answer.

See Students Taking Exams In A Nigerian School: What A Shame!!

It is indeed a national disgrace to the acclaimed Giant of Africa that something like this is still happening in this 21st century in our country, yet Mr President and his co-travelers are comfortable to waste a whooping N2.2bn to build a new banquet hall, while the existing banquet hall gets huge allocations for renovation every year in the budget.

The above photo captures students of Ajuwon High School, Akute, Ogun State, South-West Nigeria, taking exams in a regular secondary school class room in Nigeria.

I Was in Mortuary for 7 Days but Came Out Alive –Envangelist Lazarus

He was murdered. After about seven days of inquiry into his ‘death’ and sundry issues, his relatives went to the mortuary with a coffin to take his body but were shocked to find him alive.

Lazarus Oluwafemi Agbolahan Makinde, now an evangelist, tells Sam Nwaoko his story.

To hear him, especially through the telephone receiver, you must be determined and very patient. The first time this reporter called him, the impression that initially came through as the voice was barely audible, was that he must have been tired out or had some ailment. It was indeed difficult deciphering the near whisper.

“Messi’s Injury Is A Minor Knock” – Tito Vilanova

Barcelona manager, Tito Vilanova, has moved to allay fear over the injury Lionel Messi picked up last night, in their final Champions League group games against Benfica.

The Argentine forward, was taken to the hospital, where a series of tests were carried out and they revealed the 25-year-old sustained a contusion on his left knee.
“It looks like it’s just a knock but they will be doing more tests to rule out other possibilities,” Vilanova told reporters.

“Messi was a bit worried initially, which is normal when you don’t know what it is. After the first tests by the doctors, he was calm, though.”

Vilanova also insisted that he did not regret sending on Messi, for the last 30 minutes of the game, as he tries to break Gerd Muller’s record of goals scored in a year.
“We talked about the possibility of him playing for 30 minutes. He’s a player who likes to play. It was part of his physical training program,” the head coach continued.

“We should not take him off every time we’re leading 3-0 lest he picks up an injury. We’ve never behaved this way. If I had to repeat the game, I’d make the same decision seeing as he can get injured at any moment.”

Barcelona’s next game is on Sunday against Real Betis.

Man Smuggles Snake On Plane, Forces Emergency Landing

Ninety passengers aboard an Egypt Air flight from Cairo to Kuwait could have used actor Samuel L. Jackson this week after a snake reportedly bit a Jordanian man who smuggled the reptile onboard.

An Egypt Air official told the paper an investigation revealed that the 48-year-old passenger, who owns a reptile shop in Kuwait, had hidden the Egyptian cobra in a carry-on bag. The passenger was trying to control the snake after it bit his hand and started slithering under the seats.
