The first lady of Mavin Records and Pepsi’s Brand Ambassador, Tiwa Savage, has debunked stories that she is dating her manager and business partner, Tunji Balogun, popularly addressed as ‘Tee Billz’.

It has been reported by several entertainment tabloids and blogs, and even those in the know have sworn, that is more than a working relationship between the pair, who run 323 Entertainment together.
“I am not engaged and I am not dating Tee Billz. If I am, you would have seen a ring on my finger indicating that I am engaged. It’s just a rumour,” the 32-year-old insisted in an interview with Encomium Magazine.
She was then asked to describe her ideal man. Miss Savage said: “I will like my man to be tall, dark, handsome and must be fit. He must have a good heart, work hard and must care a lot about me”.
Tiwa’s description above, has done little to quell speculations, even as she and Tee Billz, engage in public display of affection in public places.

Arrested Son of Jigawa State Governor, Released On Bail.

The eldest son of Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa state who was arrested on Tuesday night at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, was today released on bail after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), filed charges at a Federal High court in Kano.
Aminu was caught with $40,000 (N7.5 million), an amount which is in excess of the authorized $10,000 allowed by law for travellers leaving the country.
The Governor had yesterday rose in stout defense of his son, claiming Aminu was going to Cairo on a medical trip, in respect of the treatment of his (the Governor’s) grand-daughter, who had a spinal cord problem.
Lamido said that the impression being created by the anti-corruption agency was totally “false and mischevious.”
Officials of the EFCC in Kano disclosed that the suspect was freed on administrative bail as there were no judges available to take his plea today due to “judges conference” taking place in Abuja.
It is expected that a date for hearing on the matter will be fixed next week.

Update On Prof. Kamene Okonjo Kidnap: 63 Suspects Arrested.

About 63 people were Wednesday arrested in Ozanogogo town, Ika South local government area of Delta State by soldiers of 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in connection with the kidnapping of Prof. Kamene Okonjo, wife of the Ogwashi-Uku Monarch and mother of the Minister of Finance, Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
Over 30 soldiers stormed the town in the evening hour when the men of the small community were returning from their various farms and other places.

Jerry Opute who spoke to P.M. NEWS on phone, lamented the indiscriminate arrest of citizens of his community, which he said has led to people deserting the town and other neighbouring communities.

“According to the reports from my people, soldiers from the 4 Brigade in Benin invaded the town in the evening of Wednesday, and arrested whoever they see. My younger brother, Gaius, who was returning from farm was arrested. Two of my cousins were also arrested with one of their in-laws who came from Benin where they were meeting to arrange the burial ceremony of their father.

“Come to think of it; what would a kidnapper who was demanding hundreds of millions of Naira be doing in the farm? I am of the opinion that security operatives should make arrest based on security and intelligence reports, rather than engaging in indiscriminate arrest of innocent farmers who know next to nothing about kidnapping,” Jerry lamented.

He therefore called on relevant authorities to look elsewhere for the kidnappers of the Monarch’s wife and release their innocent kinsmen whom he said were “mere farmers still struggling to cope with the shock and after effect of the flood that sacked their community.”

The Public Relations Officer of the 4 Brigade, Captain Rose Managbe, confirmed the arrest of the 63 suspects to P.M. NEWS in her office in Benin.

Meanwhile, the police have debunked rumours this morning that the kidnapped Queen of Oguwashi-Uku Prof. Okonjo might have been killed.

A caller who did not disclose his identity told P.M. NEWS on phone that her dead body was sighted somewhere along Omomo Road, close to Agbor-Obi, in Delta State. When contacted on phone, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Ikechukwu Aduba, said he was not aware of the report.
“I am not aware of that. That is the height of falsehood. I am in contact with the Agbor DPO, and he has not briefed me of anything like that,” Aduba said.

Zambian FA Challenges Messi’s Goals Record With Chitalu 107 Goals

Since Messi broke Gerd Muller's record for higest number of goals scored in a single calender year, many claims have emerged to have long broken such records.

The Argentinean master incredibly scored two more goals this morning as Barcelona beat Cordoba 2-0 in the Copa del Ray to take his tally to 88 goals in 2012 – but he still needs another 20 to break the record, according to claims out of Zambia.

The 25-year-old created headlines around the world and was celebrated by many as the best ever footballer after he broke Gerd Muller’s 40-year-old record for the most goals scored in a calendar year earlier this week.

However, according to the Zambian FA, the record was never Muller’s to be broken, but was rather Kabwe Warriors striker Godfrey Chitalu who scored 107 goals, also in 1972.

The five-time Zambian player of the year’s feat was never officially recognised by FIFA, but Zambian officials have approached football’s governing body to have the goals officially recorded.

There have also been claims from Brazilian club Flamengo Messi is still one goal shy of the record set by Brazilian Zico, who the club say scored 89 goals in 1979.
The midfielder, who played in three World Cup campaigns for the South Americans between 1978-86, scored 81 goals for the Rio-based club, seven with Brazil and one in a friendly.

“Messi has not bettered the record,” said Bruno Lucena, a club historian.

“If he had played the whole year, Zico would have without doubt scored more than 100 goals,” he said in reference to the fact that Zico missed a couple of months of the 1979 season through injury.
Zico, who last month stood down as coach of Iraq after previously managing Japan, Fenerbahce and CSKA Moscow, scored 647 goals for clubs and 52 for Brazil in his 1971-1994 career.

Messi will have two more chances to better his own tally, with Barcelona playing two more games in 2012.

Governor Lamido Denies Reports That His Son Was Arrested By EFCC For Money Laundering

The Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has debunked reports credited to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC), that his arrested son, Aminu Sule, may have been on a money laundering mission on his behalf.

Aminu Sule Lamido, was arrested on Tuesday night at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano on his way to board an Egypt flight to Cairo.
He was caught with $40,000 (N7.5 million), an amount which was said to be in excess of the authorized $10,000 allowed by law for travellers leaving the country.

33-Year-Old Man Booed By Crowd For Looking Like Jesus

Nathan Grindal
Bearded Nathan Grindal, 33, was enjoying the match between star champ Phil Taylor and Kim Huybrechts when some of the 4,500-strong audience spotted his likeness to the son of God .

Chants of "Jesus" quickly spread through the rowdy crowd, interrupting play at Butlins in Minehead, Somerset. Security was called before six bouncers escorted upset Nathan from the Cash Converters Players' Championship, being shown on ITV4.
As he left a chant of 'Stand up if you love Jesus' broke out, with many of the boozed-up crowd getting to their feet.

Nathan, a labourer, was escorted to a nearby bar where security staff bought him a pint and told him to watch the rest of the final on the telly. He then found himself being asked to pose for signed photos with fans as they left the arena.

Nathan, who emigrated from his native Australia to Oxford six years ago, said: "I didn't go to the darts dressed as Jesus – I went as me. It was all very weird and distressing. I didn't break down crying but I did get emotionally distraught. They were bullying me and picking on me, saying that I was someone else. It would have been okay if the security hadn't made a fuss getting me out of the arena.”

He added: “In his post-match interview, Phil Taylor said something like 'if I ever see Jesus again, I'll crucify him myself.' Now that's just hurtful. I love darts, but I'm worried about ever going to see it live again, just in case the crowd turns on me like they did last time."

Nathan, who began growing his beard four months ago, had booked a three-day stay at Butlins earlier this month with five pals to watch the darts.

Pastor Tunde Bakare's Son & NYSC Commandant Slaps Each Other In NYSC Ondo Camp

Story written by Stella Dimoko Korkus for Encomium Magazine.

It was with tension and on edge that those who witnessed this exchange of slaps whisper this gist. According to them, 'coloured trousers had been banned within the camp and the camp commandant spotted Pastor Tunde Bakare's son, Segun Bakare in black trousers. When apprehended, the lad asked the commandant if he didn't know he was the son of Tunde Bakare, the popular preacher. The commandant immediately delivered a slap on the face of the young man and Segun replied with his own slap.

Segun's mum had given the commandant a number to call when she dropped off her son in camp, so immediately this incident occurred, the commandant called Mrs Bakare and after a few words, the phone was handed to Pastor Tunde Bakare himself. After hearing what had happened, Pastor Bakare asked that his son be disciplined for disobeying camp rules. The phone was on speaker and Segun heard his father's instructions and as soon as the phone call ended, he went down on his knees and started begging. The matter has since been resolved.

Copa Del Rey Shock Defeat: Celta Vigo Defeated Real Madrid 2-1

Celta Vigo upset Real Madrid with a 2-1 victory in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.

The progression of Real  Madrid does not look as secure, although Cristiano Ronaldo’s late goal at least ensured they headed back to the capital with a 2-1 loss against them and not a 2-0 one.

Mario Bermejo had put Celta ahead 11 minutes after the break with a low, back-post finish and Madrid, lagging in the title race, were in disarray when substitute Christian Bustos scored two minutes after his 76th-minute arrival.
But Ronaldo’s strike with four minutes left swung some momentum back into the favour of Jose Mourinho’s men.

Nairaland Forum and Iroko TV Recognised By Forbes Magazine

In the recent article published by Forbes Magazine, our own Nairaland Forum and Iroko TV were recognised. Congrats to Seun and Nairaland.

There has never been a more exciting time in Africa’s tech start-up community. The sector has reached an unprecedented level of maturity and growth. Africa’s techies and developers are no longer building mobile apps, software and websites just for the love of it; they are adopting a rather aggressive approach towards business planning, commercialization and profitability.

Take IrokoTV, for example. The digital distributor of Nigerian movies has famously been dubbed the ‘Netflix of Africa’. When it launched in December 2010, IrokoTV depended solely on Google’s partner program for all its revenue. Not anymore. In May this year, Jason Njoku, the company’s maverick founder, announced that the company would start charging users a $5 monthly subscription fee to access its entire movie catalogue.

Similarly,, Africa’s largest discussion forum, historically depended solely on Google Ads for its revenue. It ditched Google Adwords a couple of months ago to start selling ads directly on its platform.

Commercialization aside, innovation still reigns supreme in Africa’s tech community. While some African techies are still developing leisure games and mobile applications (like the remarkable MALIYO Games, which creates casual browser games to share the experiences of everyday Africans with a global audience), others are creating disruptive new inventions that are providing solutions to some of the continent’s most pressing socioeconomic problems.

In my opinion, here are 5 spectacular African tech start-ups that are most likely to shake up the continent’s tech industry in 2013:

Removed: The burst bags of cocaine after they were removed from the 28-year-old woman’s breasts. She had been forced to carry the drugs by traffickers
A drugs mule has been busted trying to smuggle almost two kilos of cocaine into Spain in her breasts.
Cruel traffickers forced the 28-year-old Panamanian woman to undergo surgery where several bags of the Class A drug were inserted beneath her skin – much like a breast implant.
She was stopped earlier this month at Barcelona’s El Prat airport, following a flight on Colombia’s Avianca airline, after police thought she was ‘acting funny’.

During a search, they found a blood soaked bandage covering her chest – which she admitted resulted from the operation to introduce the packets of drugs into her body.
She was rushed to a medical centre in the city, where doctors removed 1.8 kilos of cocaine – worth about £240,000- in a number of sealed bags.

But some people, like Taofeek Muraina, have not been very fortunate like most. Muraina has a serous eye problem that was so painful  that he tried to commit suicide twice.

On December 5, he had wanted to poison himself when a neighbour arrived on time and raised the alarm.

Muraina has been battling with an acute eye condition since when he was a child. As he grows, his condition worsens, making life unbearable for him.

Explaining reasons for attempting suicide, he said, “Life is unbearable for me. I was born with an eye problem. My wife, Tawa, left me and dumped our 10-year-old son with me. I learnt that she has got married to another man.

A clip from the video
A clip from the video
Reports emerging from the university has it that say that a student of the institution was recently suspended after he was caught watching the music video teaser for Jarmeu’s ‘Booty Bash’. The Covenant University student (identity withheld), was caught watching the nearly x-rated music video of Jarmeu, who is one of Nigeria’s fast rising artistes.
The school, which is owned by Nigeria’s billionaire’s pastor, David Oyedepo’s Winners Chapel Church, as most people might have heard, does not allow the use of mobile phones by its students.
Therefore, when the student’s phone was seized, it was discovered that he had been watching a music video that had the flaunting of ‘booties’, which belonged to Jarmeu. The student was then punished for ‘indecent conduct’ and got suspended from the school by the school authorities.

Na wa ooo!! too much drama from this Covenant University!!
