With less than 48 hours to another year, a communal clash has erupted in Gwako, under Gwagwalada Local Government Area of the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja).

The spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA), Yushau Shuaib, who stated this on Sunday, said the clash drew the attention of the agency and the Ministry of the Capital Territory to jointly activate their Search and Rescue teams.

The prompt intervention of the two agencies including security personnel from the police, civil defence corps and military had helped to curtail the escalation of the crisis which started Saturday as a result of encroachment of herds of cattle into farmlands in the area.

NEMA Director General, Muhammad Sani-Sidi, who commended the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Muhammad, for the promptness of his agencies and his physical presence at scenes, appealed to the warring parties to live peacefully with one another and eschew any form of violent as we enter the New Year.

Sani-Sidi who disclosed that two lives were lost and 27 communities affected, said that over 1500 internally displaced people are currently squatting in a temporary camp on the permanent campus of the University of Abuja in Gwagwalada area.

The minister, who led other government agencies to assess the impact of the incident appealed to the communities to remain calm as the government would ensure that the causes of the crisis would soon be addressed so that they could return to their homes.

obafemi martins girlfriend

Obafemi Martins is dating Mario Balotelli’s elder sister, Abigail Barwuash and Mario is said not to be particularly happy about their relationship.

But in a recent interview with, Obafemi dismissed insinuations that Mario was not happy that he’s dating Abigail

“Mario is my boy. The respect is there because I used to play at Inter, in the youth team with him. He’s giving me my respect and I’m doing same. People are putting it in the news that he’s upset, of course he’s glad.

He’s glad that Obafemi Martins is dating his sister. But if he gets jealous then it means he doesn’t want his sister to grow. But it’s not like that. The boy is not a bad boy.
He also said he and Abigail haven’t discussed marriage yet.

“The relationship is true but getting married or not, we haven’t discussed anything like that. She’s upstairs and we’re happy together.

Pastor Chris Foresees Doom In Nollywood!

nollywood 3 600x600 Pastor Chris Foresees Doom In Nollywood!

According to Pastor Chris C. Godwin of Fire House Ministries, in Lagos, God has revealed to him the doom that lies ahead for Nollywood and its practitioners.

“Hello my brethren, by the special grace of God, I am Pastor Chris C. Godwin, the president of World Missionary Assistance Nigeria and the Shepherd of Fire House Ministries Lagos. I am writing to the media based on what I have foreseen coming up against the film industry of this our beloved Nation, of which if care is not taken, big calamity will befall this growing industry.”

“The devil is fighting this film industry very well, most of these actors end up behaving and living what they acted in films, which is not suppose to be. After acting a particular film, no film is ordinary, there is a spirit behind every film you act, and every life you expose, every society you expose, every deity you expose.”

After acting, some of them do not go for deliverance in a proper place and some of these deliverance are not done in a proper way, that’s why the Devil and these dark kingdoms keep getting these actors, believe it or not, it is not every man of God is fit or called for deliverance, most of these cosmetic preachers are not fit or called for that.

Deliverance is not standing in the pulpit blowing grammar, many people can preach the Gospel even Satan preached the Gospel when he tempted Jesus after he fasted for 40 days and 40 nights, Devil Quoted Psalm 91.’’

Pastor Chris C. Godwin is not a new person to a few of Nollywood stars such as Segun Arinze, Former President of AGN, Brother Emeka Jonathan DGN, Sis Louisa, a lot of them who have in one way or the other patronized the man of God for special prayers and deliverance.

‘Don’t Insult Jonathan On Facebook’ Niger Delta Group

jonathan goodluck2 300x225 ‘Don’t Insult Jonathan On Facebook’ Niger Delta Group

The group said some Nigerians had taken delight in using abusive words against President Goodluck Jonathan, adding that such attitude was not common in other countries.

National Coordinator of the group, Mr. David Ato, who made this call while speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Friday, explained that President Goodluck Jonathan meant well for Nigerians.

Ato stated that the President needed the support of Nigerians, including youths, to be able to deliver on his election promises.
He said people using abusive words against the President should realise that Jonathan did not create the economic and political problems facing the country.

Ato said, “The youth should desist from using abusive words against the President of the country. We should learn how to respect our leaders and we need to support him because we elected him into that office.

“Insulting him on Facebook and other social media is not the best. The truth is that Nigeria has been facing a lot of economic and political problems for a long time. President Jonathan did not create these problems.”

He, however, urged the President to begin to deliver on his election promises in 2013, adding that Nigerians were waiting anxiously to see the manifestation of his transformation agenda.
Ato, who expressed optimism that Nigerians would soon begin to enjoy the dividends of democracy, also charged Jonathan to address the problem of insecurity, especially in the northern part of the country.

He decried the continued onslaught against innocent Nigerians by the Boko Haram sect, even as he called on Nigerians not to relent in praying for an end to the bomb attacks in the North.

He argued that the situation in the North was adversely affecting the image and economy of the country, adding that no investor would invest in a crisis-ridden environment.

Calling on security agents to relate with members of the public on security issues, Ato said such measure could help to improve intelligence gathering.

FG Discovers New Year Bomb Plots in Abuja, Kano,Kaduna, Others

With less than 48 hours to the New Year, the Federal Government has foiled plans by the Boko Haram sect to unleash terror in different parts of the country.

SUNDAY PUNCH authoritatively reports that not less than 15 different bomb attacks have been nipped in the bud since Christmas Day.
The explosives to disrupt public peace in the New Year which were planted in strategic spots in Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi and Maiduguri, were discovered by the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit of the Nigerian Police.
These cities have witnessed devastating attacks that left many dead while millions of property were destroyed.

It was learnt that following security reports that the terrorist sect was planning Christmas and New Year attacks, security teams, made up of personnel from various security agencies were posted to notorious areas.

On Friday, three more improvised explosive devices were defused in Maiduguri.
Confirming that security agencies are aware of the planned attacks, the Public Relations Officer of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit, Mr. Gbolahan Moronfolu, told our correspondent that more explosives had been defused during the Yuletide.

He said, “We have been defusing the bombs on a daily basis. Even though we have been doing this since the beginning of this year, we have doubled our surveillance in the past few days and we promise Nigerians that we are doing our best to ensure a very peaceful New Year. The Commissioner of Police in charge of the unit will give you precise details.”

The CP in charge of the Anti-Bomb Command, Mr. Folusho Adebanjo, told SUNDAY PUNCH that the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, had ordered that no bomb explosion must take place during or before the New Year.

In a telephone interview with our correspondent, Adebanjo said, “That is the order we have. The IG said he must not hear that any bomb hurt or affected any Nigerian during the Yuletide. And because we are aware of these plans (bomb attacks), we are working extra hard.

“I can tell you that we have detonated more explosives in Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, Maiduguri and Abuja these past days. We are going to foil more before the New Year and even after. We are committed to ensuring that no lives are lost. I am in touch with all the state commands every hour to achieve this.”

SUNDAY PUNCH gathered that the IG also warned all state commands that there would be disciplinary measures if any state command was found wanting in ensuring that their states were well monitored.

This directive has put all commissioners of police on their toes as investigations showed that most of them have been holding daily meetings with their Divisional Police Officers while also addressing press conferences to assure the citizenry of protection of their lives and property.

In Edo State, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammad Hurdi, told residents of the state that police would ensure adequate security during the New Year celebrations.
Hurdi said, “We have our men fully on ground, all the corners in the state are occupied with our men; we guarantee you adequate security for protection of lives and property. If you have something bothering you, endeavour to contact the commissioner or police public relations officer, the lines are open 24 hours for quick response. Police is the mother of security, let’s partner to fight crime to barest minimum.”

It was further learnt that security had been tightened around major international airports with extra anti-bomb officials frisking passengers.
Since Friday, security has been increased around the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos. All the roads leading to and out of the airport were taken over by security agents.

Vehicles plying the routes were thoroughly screened by counter-terrorism personnel of the police.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that on Friday and Saturday, the screening caused a traffic snarl on the Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, leading to the domestic wing of the airport. Similar traffic jam was observed along the Oshodi/Ajao Estate section leading to the international wing of the airport.

At the domestic section of the Lagos Airport, the road was narrowed to a single lane with used tyres. All vehicles coming into the airport from the Agege and Ikeja ends of the road passed through the single lane to enable the squad checked them effectively.
Many airport workers and passengers had to alight from commercial vehicles and walked through the traffic to their duty posts.

The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja witnessed the same security regime. The Chief Security Officer, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mr. Henry Afobi, told NAN that the tight security measures would continue until the New Year.

Afobi said apart from the Abuja airport, measures had been adopted to ensure that no security threat was experienced at the airports across the country.
He said, “Security is a dynamic issue. We try to be pro-active by putting a lot of measures in place to prevent unforeseen occurrences.”

Still in Abuja, additional security measures had been provided around major hotels including Transcorp, Sheraton and NICON Luxury hotels.
Plain-clothed police as well as private guards were seen scrutinising vehicles and frisking visitors at the hotels.

Sensing that there may be an increase in attacks during the Yuletide, the United States, Canadian and Taiwanese governments warned their nationals against non-essential travel to Nigeria.
These concerns resulted in increased security around foreign missions in Abuja. Besides the security men at the US Embassy and the hotels, armed policemen have been patrolling the area.

An Armoured Personnel Carrier is stationed metres away from the Canadian High Commission located on Bobo Street.
The US Department of State warned that terrorists could extend their activities to the “country’s middle and Southern states.”
The travel warning issued by the Bureau of Consular Affairs of the United States Department of State dated December 21, 2012.

The advisory read, “The Department of State warns US citizens of the risks of travel to Nigeria, particularly during the holiday season, and continues to recommend that US citizens avoid all but essential travel to the following states because of the risk of kidnappings, robberies, and other armed attacks – Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Plateau, Gombe, Yobe, Kaduna, Bauchi, Borno, and Kano states.
“US citizens should be aware that, in the light of the continuing violence, extremists may expand their operations beyond Northern Nigeria to the country’s middle and Southern states.”

FG To Go Tough on Private Jet Owners

There are indications that the Federal Government will impose stringent measures on private jet owners and charter aircraft operators to avert disaster in the general aviation section, investigation by our correspondent has revealed.
This, it was learnt, was the outcome of an emergency meeting between the Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah, and heads of the aviation agencies, with some top players in the aviation sector in Abuja last Wednesday.
The minister reportedly said at the meeting, which ended around 3am, that there was need to look deeply into the operation of the general aviation sector, which involves private and chartered aircraft.
Part of the measures, it was learnt, would include imposing heavy sanctions on any non-compliance with standard safety procedure.
A source at the meeting said the new arrangement would also forbid pilots of private and chartered jets from flying above the normal flying hours to avoid any accident occasioned by fatigue.
“So, nothing will be taken for granted in the general aviation sector now,” the source said.
The recent Naval Augusta crash in Bayelsa State, it was learnt, brought the issue to the front burner.
The development also followed the increasing number of private jets and chartered aircraft, including helicopters in the nation’s airspace.
Although the crash in Bayelsa involved a military aircraft, which Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority and the Ministry of Aviation had no regulatory power over, the civil aviation authorities saw the crash as a wakeup call and the need to focus more attention on the operations and activities of lighter aircraft, sources close to the ministry said.
It was also gathered that the recent private aircraft crash involving the Governor of Taraba State, Mr. Danbaba Suntai, made development pertinent.
Consequently, it was learnt that government had decided that the ministry and the NCAA would henceforth pay more attention to the activities of airstrips, heliports, helipads, airports, private jets and chartered aircraft.
The ministry oversees airstrips while the NCAA oversees aircraft.
“Most of the people that own private jets in Nigeria are big people who ordinarily may not want to obey rules at times. But the minister said that the recent happening in the military circle was also a wakeup call for the civil aviation as well.
“It now means that the Ministry of Aviation and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority will be paying more attention to the operators of private and chartered jets/ helicopters in the country.”
The source added that the development could lead to a situation where some airstrips, helipads and helidecks would be re-examined or audited.
The general aviation sector in Nigeria has witnessed tremendous growth in recent years and stakeholders are happy that the sub-sector is attracting more foreign and local investors.
But an aviation industry analyst, Mr. Olumide and Ohunayo, said the latest development was not expected to retard this growth, rather it should strengthen it.

Photos: Akon’s Makes Peace To Fighting Boys In Calabar

Now, this is one hilarious and daring news to set off your Sunday on a good footing. Akon was in Cross River state to perform at the annual Calabar Carnival along side Psquare, MayD and Jmartins. The Senegalese born American R & B superstar was busy doing his performance inside the UJ Esuene stadium when he noticed a group of boys fighting and asked them to stop.
According to what we gathered, the singer threatened to go through the mammoth crowd to settle the fight if they wouldn’t stop but the fighting group were too busy drawing blood to listen and before the fans knew what was happening, Akon had jumped into the crowd even as his bodyguards were taken by surprise.
He reportedly kept screaming “Lift me up..ama go out there, take me there.” Instead of lifting him to where the fight was taking place, the crowd was more interested in stripping him of his belt and the left leg of his shoe. By the time his bodyguards reached him, his belt buckle was gone too.
Not one to give up easily, Akon went back stage and to the crowd’s bewilderment, the singer got into some kind of protective balloon, stood on stage and then suddenly leapt into the crowd, shielded by that balloon as the crowd kept throwing him around the stadium like a ball.
Eventually, he fulfilled his mission and the Calabar crowd steered him safely back towards the stage where he came out of the balloon sending the crowd into a wild frenzy.

Jigawa Bans Cruelty To Chickens

Jigawa State has banned the maltreatment of poultry birds by man and has threatened to prosecute traders, who do so in the state.

Speaking during a sensitisation exercise at Furji Market in Yankwashi Local Government Area of the state, the Chairman, Consumer Protection Agency in the state, Alhaji Abdulkadir Hadejia warned that the government had placed a ban on the manhandling of chickens in all markets across the state and so defaulters would be prosecuted. He however did not spell out the specific sanctions.

“The action is cruel, inhuman and exposes the animals to maltreatment. Hawkers of chickens should pack their animals in a crate rather than hanging them with their head down in the name of marketing.
“The ban applies to all poultry sellers, such as chicken, guinea fowl, duck and pigeon. Anybody found manhandling the animals will be prosecuted,” he warned.

Hadejia said the action was part of a comprehensive campaign to check the abuse and encourage proper handling of chicken and other poultry animals by traders.

He said the agency had conducted similar sensitisation exercise in more than 40 village markets across the state.
He added that the government has also worked out modalities to upgrade some markets in the state to enhance commercial activities at the grassroots.

Three teenagers Arrested For raping 22-Year-Old Woman

Three teenage boys kidnapped woman, 22, on Christmas, robbed her and raped her for five hours even after she vomited on them.

A young woman’s Christmas—and her life—was shattered Tuesday when she was kidnapped, raped, robbed and beaten in her own car by three teenagers over the course of five hours, according to police.

"You’ll get sick in the stomach," said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood, before reciting the facts of the case.

Around 11:40 p.m. Christmas night, the 22-year-old victim was in her Jeep Cherokee, waiting for her boyfriend to come out of a nearby bar, when three men—one of whom had a gun—forced their way inside of her vehicle, Chitwood said. They made the woman move to the back seat and drove her around Philadelphia for hours, police said. One by one, the men took turns in the back seat, forcing the victim to perform sex acts, even after she repeatedly vomited on them, according to court documents.

The men hit her on multiple occasions and robbed her of her Coach purse, wallet, car stereo, cell phone, camera, GPS, ruby ring, diamond necklace, bracelet and her insurance-and-registration paperwork, according to police. After going through her belongings, the men realized the victim had a 2-year-old daughter and they threatened her life and the child’s life if she said anything to authorities. They then parked the car at Long Lane near Marshall Road, told the victim they would throw the keys under the car and fled on foot. The woman waited for several minutes, grabbed her keys and drove to her boyfriend's house, and they both went to the police station.

In a bizarre twist, authorities took less than an hour to track down the alleged attackers after police were called to an Upper Darby home to respond to a disturbance. A woman had called 911 saying a teenager staying over at her house with her son was bragging about having a gun. When officers, who knew about the vicious rape, arrived at the home, they discovered four teens—two of whom were the woman’s sons and one of whom, Kevin Jones, said he was a friend of the woman’s sons who stayed at the house so he could illegally attend Upper Darby High School, police said. The fourth teen at the scene, Kewon Matthews, said he was a friend to Jones, according to police.

Inside the house, the observant officers spotted a Coach handbag that matched the one stolen from the rape victim, Chitwood said. After confirming with the woman in the house that the bag was not hers, police opened it and found some of the victim’s stolen items inside. The victim was then brought to the house where she identified Matthews and Jones, both 17, as two of her attackers, Chitwood said. The sons of the woman who owns the house were questioned but not charged with any crimes. After the arrest of Matthews and Jones, police were able to identify the third suspect as Brehon Rawlings, 19, of Yeadon, Chitwood said. Rawlings was found hiding in the bathtub of his home around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

All three men were charged as adults with kidnapping, rape, robbery and related offenses and are being held on $500,000 bail each. They are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on New Year’s Eve day.

“If They Put Me In Anything That Doesn’t Make Me Hot And Sexy, They Are In Trouble”- Omotola

Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde fondly called Omo Sexy recently spoke on her work and love for fashion and it seems since her launch of the reality show ‘The Real Me’ she’s not holding anything back.

The mother of four and wife of the pilot, Captain Matthew Ekeinde, actress, model, musician, fashion icon and NGO executive revealed her first ever pay check was N15,000 and it came from a modeling job for a malt drink in 1994.

With that came more modelling jobs then she started acting. Her first movie was Venom of Justice. “I thought I was going to be nervous but I was calm; though I was a little bit anxious. I acted like I had been doing it for some time,” she said.

Of course acting was good to her, she remembers the most expensive thing she bought at the time was a Rolex wristwatch worth about N100, 000. “I bought it when I turned 19. I bought it like I was buying a land and, funny as it is, I have lost it.”

Above all, though the years, Omosexy explains she takes her looks very important.

She said the first thing that comes to her mind when dressing is the word; “sexy” which is her image. “… everybody working with me, as stylist knows that. If they put me in anything that doesn’t make me hot and sexy, they are in trouble. I must be attractive, especially to my husband. I wear what I feel comfortable in and my hubby likes the way I dress. He’s the important one; if he doesn’t have a problem with my dressing then I am okay.”
